Presenting the 2025 Food Banks Canada Partner Awards

From a steady stream of food to transportation services to investments in innovative programs, there are many ways that associations, corporations and foundations provide crucial support to food banking and food security in Canada.

Food Banks Canada’s Partner Awards shine a spotlight on some of the most remarkable contributions from organizations. We selected the honorees based on their total contributions in 2025, the significance of their impact, and their engagement with our mission of relieving hunger today and preventing hunger tomorrow.

“At a time when the need for food banks remains greater than ever before, we are so grateful to our incredible partners who continue to show up in extraordinary ways,” said Kirstin Beardsley, Chief Executive Officer, Food Banks Canada. “The leadership and commitment shown by these partners are creating real and lasting impact for people across the country. We’re honoured to work alongside them and to take this moment to celebrate what they’re bringing to the table.”

We’re pleased to announce the following awardees:

Product Partner of the Year

Protein-rich foods are an essential part of a balanced diet, but they’re not easy for food banks to source. Fortunately, Egg Farmers of Canada has long been dedicated to supporting food banks across the country, including those in remote Northern locations. Their outstanding generosity and leadership made them the natural choice for this award, which recognizes major contributions of products that food banks and their clients need.

Backed by 1,295 Canadian egg farmers and farm families across Canada, their ongoing donations of millions of fresh eggs to Food Banks Canada allow food banks across the country to provide this nutritious, protein-packed and versatile staple. “Eggs are so welcomed,” reports Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre in Saskatchewan. “Thanks to Egg Farmers of Canada for realizing that food security is a shared responsibility and stepping in to support food banks with healthy options!”

Services In-kind Partner of the Year

Food Banks Canada wouldn’t be able to get food donations to the places they’re needed without in-kind donations of logistics services. The 2025 Services In-Kind Partner award highlights our high-value and reliable partnership with Canadian National Railway (CN). Guided by its mission to build safer, stronger, more sustainable and prosperous communities, CN provides both transportation services and funding to the National Food Sharing System (NFSS). In doing so, it has helped communities from coast to coast to coast to have access to nutritious food.

CN’s dedicated commitment, collaborative approach, and leadership continue to strengthen the food bank network’s impact. “When CN pulls up to our warehouse, the real gift they’re delivering is nourishment, comfort and peace of mind,” says Karen Theriault of Feed Nova Scotia. “And we couldn’t be more grateful.”

Funding Partner of the Year

Food bank use has doubled since 2019. To help the food bank network purchase more food and make the investments it needs rise to this huge challenge, Food Banks Canada relies on generous funding partners.

Loblaw Companies Limited is our 2025 Funding Partner of the Year in recognition of their increase to what was already a transformational-level financial contribution — and their sustained commitment to point-of-sale fundraising supported by innovative ideas that boost the amount of funds raised.

Through their long-standing collaboration with Food Banks Canada, Loblaw activates their bi-annual Loblaw Feed More Families™ Food Drive in participating Loblaw banner stores. This nationwide effort plays a critical role in supporting food banks, helping to provide millions of meals to communities across Canada.

On top of that, through Food Banks Canada’s Retail Food Program (RFP) and integrated support across multiple additional channels, Loblaw has demonstrated leadership, innovation, and a deep commitment to maximizing impact for communities across Canada. By recovering surplus food and essential household items from local stores and redistributing them to nearby food banks, they help reduce food waste while strengthening local communities.

Foundation Partner of the Year

To help keep up with demand, the food bank network must tap into all available sources of food, including surplus agricultural food. This entails building relationships with farmers and investing in the capacity to transform bulk perishables into foods that are practical to ship, store and distribute throughout the network.

PepsiCo Foundation is our 2025 Foundation of the Year in celebration of its leadership and focus on advancing food systems across Canada. Together, PepsiCo Foundation and Food Banks Canada are increasing access to nutritious food in communities facing food insecurity by strengthening distribution, recovering surplus agricultural products, and improving the long-term efficiency and reach of local food programs.

Growth Partner of the Year

This award honours a partner whose contributions to Food Banks Canada grew significantly year over year. As a Food Banks Canada partner for over five years, Amazon has demonstrated a strong ongoing commitment to the fight against food insecurity. In 2025, their support expanded meaningfully across multiple fronts. Through increased in‑kind service supply for the National Food Sharing System and the After the Bell program, as well as their financial contributions in support of the Emergency Response program, Amazon substantially deepened their impact. Their growing commitment has helped ensure that timely, critical support reaches families and communities when it is most needed.

New Partner of the Year

We’re delighted to welcome RBC as a partner and to acknowledge its exceptional inaugural year and top-tier contribution. From the outset, RBC demonstrated strong leadership and generosity, making an immediate and meaningful impact while laying the groundwork for a powerful and enduring partnership.

RBC focuses on improving community quality of life through initiatives supporting youth skills, environmental sustainability, and inclusive opportunities. They have provided significant support to Food Banks Canada’s food transformation and agriculture recovery work. By acquiring valuable food for the food bank network that would otherwise go to waste, and taking practical steps – such as gleaning, washing, bagging, and freezing – we are building a resilient food bank network that improves access to nutritious food across Canada.

We look forward to continuing to collaborate with these organizations and all our valued partners to strengthen food banking on a national scale and advance towards our vision of a Canada where nobody goes hungry — neither of which would be possible without them.
