Make a Difference in the Lives of Those Experiencing Hunger

In March 2019, there were over 1 million visits to food banks in Canada in one month alone.

Join Walmart Canada and Food Banks Canada in making a difference in the lives of those experiencing hunger in Canada through Walmart Canada’s fourth annual Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign. The campaign kicks off on February 20 and runs until March 18 in Walmart stores across the country and benefit local food banks.

In 2019, the campaign generated 15 million meals in support of the food banking network across Canada. This year we hope to add a further 15 million meals!

The Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign offers simple ways you can take action to help local food banks: purchase participating products, donate at the register and online or, drop off food donations in-store.

Purchase Participating Products

With a purchase of select products between February 20 to March 18, online or in-store from participating brand partners, a contribution will be made to Food Banks Canada.

Participating brand partners joining together for Fight Hunger. Spark Change. include: Bimbo Canada, Danone, Dare Foods, General Mills, Hershey, Kellogg’s, Kraft Heinz, Maple Leaf, Mars Canada Inc., McCormick Canada, Mondelez, Nestle, Pepsi Canada and Unilever.

Donate at the Register or Online at Walmart.ca

You have the opportunity to round-up your purchases at the register to the nearest dollar from February 20 to March 18 and donate the difference. All donations will be matched by Walmart Canada, up to a maximum of $820,000, in support of your local food bank.

Shopping online? You can add a donation to your shopping order during this same window.

These donations help your local food bank better serve those experiencing hunger in your community. With these funds, your local food bank can purchase perishable products like dairy, protein and vegetables when they need them; buy gas for their trucks to ensure timely delivery of food to local agencies; make staffing or capital investments like shelving or forklifts to ensure their warehouses run effectively or invest in programs and services at the community level to help clients navigate support systems more easily.

Drop-Off Food Donations

Walmart Canada stores will also be accepting non-perishable food donations for local food banks. Look for a donation bin at the front of each store. Please consider nutritious food options such as canned protein, fruits and vegetables, rice, whole-wheat pasta and sauces, soups and protein alternatives (ex: peanut butter and beans) when dropping off your donations.
