Coming Together to Give

With special guest: Duane Flood, Store Manager, Real Canadian Superstore, Simcoe, Ontario

As the Store Manager for The Real Canadian Superstore in Simcoe our goal is to help “Feed Everyone” in our community. During our food drive, we see a combined effort with our store colleagues, local volunteers from Norfolk County OPP, Norfolk County Fire & Rescue, Norfolk Paramedics, and the Simcoe Caring Cupboard. It’s wonderful to see so many different groups in our community come together for a great cause.

Store cashiers, colleagues and amazing community volunteers collect monetary donations and non-perishable food items for our local food bank, The Simcoe Caring Cupboard. Especially around the holidays, it feels good to participate in an effort to help our neighbours.

We encourage our customers to donate money at tills or to our volunteers. Donations of non-perishable items are placed in bins at the store or a $5 donation bag can be purchased. If a donation bag is chosen, the total dollar value of the bags purchased is then used to purchase non-perishable items, which are donated to the Caring Cupboard and greatly appreciated by local community members who benefit from their support.

The amazing teams of local, Fire, EMS and OPP, have actually been able to raise amounts of over $1,000, in one day! Just goes to show how a community can rally in times of need. I have no doubt that it can happen this way in most communities across our country.

With the overwhelming support of our community members, and a fantastic, caring group of cashiers and front end staff, the Simcoe Real Canadian Superstore is pleased to be one of the leaders in Ontario Superstore for food bank drive funds, raised annually.

It’s a satisfying joint venture that we plan to continue!
