2026 Federal Budget Response
November 6, 2026
Food Banks Canada has consistently called for action in three areas: strengthening income supports, investing in critical food and community infrastructure, and improving affordability in northern and remote communities. We are encouraged to see meaningful action in each of these areas reflected in Budget 2026.
Food Banks Canada supports the government’s ambition to build a stronger, more prosperous, and more resilient Canada.
The good news is that these challenges are not unsolvable. Through HungerCount 2026 and our Poverty Report Cards, we have identified practical, evidence-based pathways to reduce food insecurity, improve affordability, strengthen income security, and build more resilient communities.
Budget 2026 takes several important steps forward. We look forward to working with governments and partners to strengthen these investments, close remaining gaps, and advance solutions that reduce food insecurity and improve affordability for all people in Canada.
