What is your role in food banking?
I was the former Executive Director of The Mississauga Food Bank but in January 2018, I started my new position as CEO of Food Banks Canada. In this position, I listen and meet the challenging needs of the Network and its members to address hunger and food insecurity in Canada.

Hectic.

What was your inspiration to get involved in food banking?
I wanted to give back to the community and help address the unacceptable issue of food insecurity in our country.

What is your greatest achievement in your current role?
The greatest achievement for me would be when the Board selected me and showed confidence in me to lead Food Banks Canada to execute our strategy regarding hunger and food insecurity in Canada.

What is your greatest challenge in your current role?
Being a new member of the staff, my challenge would have to be getting to know the team and learning and understanding more about their roles and how they contribute to Food Banks Canada.

If you could have one wish granted that would address hunger in Canada what would it be?
My wish would be to have a federal basic income program to allow people to afford basic food and housing.

Which talent would you most like to have?
I’d like to play and master a musical instrument.

If you could tell your younger self advice, what would it be?
Live each day to the fullest because life moves fast.

Who are your heroes?  Fictional or real life
Ritchie McCaw – the former Captain of the New Zealand rugby team.

What is your idea of happiness?
Happiness is a balance of good health, fun, work and play.

What is your motto?
Don’t worry, be happy.

Something quirky about you that others may not expect or know?
I once sat in the Oval Office of the White House when President Johnson was in office.

Your theme song?
Imagine by John Lennon is one that resonates with me.
