Celebrating our Longstanding Partners

Many of our corporate partners have been working alongside us year after year, working to eliminate food insecurity in Canada. As poverty rates in Canada continue to rise, the need for food banks has never been more urgent. March 2023 alone saw almost 2 million visits to food banks, a 32 percent increase over 2022 and a 78 percent increase pre-pandemic. Also, one-third of clients are children, even though children comprise about 20 percent of the population. At Food Banks Canada, we rely on the ongoing support of our partners to fund the initiatives that help those in need.

That’s why Food Banks Canada is celebrating our incredible longstanding, multi-year partners and donors for their commitment to relieving hunger today and preventing hunger tomorrow.

A heartfelt thank you to the partners who continue to support our work and mission year after year

The generosity of the companies, corporations, and foundations that have supported Food Banks Canada year after year helps individuals and families experiencing food insecurity to have access to fresh, non-perishable, and culturally appropriate foods from coast to coast to coast. Over several consecutive years, these partnerships have had, and will continue to have, great local impact for so many Canadians in need.

When it comes to the impact of our donors, the numbers speak for themselves: in 2023-2024  $887 million worth of food support was distributed to communities throughout the country and another $245 million was invested into communities most in need, including Canadians on social assistance, single-parent households and seniors, who increasingly rely on food banks.

Longstanding partners stepping forward with continued, successive support

Topping the 2023 longstanding partner recognition list of Food Banks Canada’s partners are Farm Credit Canada, Kraft Heinz and Syngenta. These companies have been driving positive impact for an incredible 20 + years of partnership with Food Banks Canada, helping individuals experiencing food insecurity.

Farm Credit Canada’s (FCC) annual Drive Away Hunger is an agriculture and food industry effort to connect food with the people who need it the most, providing millions of dollars and pounds of food for food banks nationwide. FCC has also contributed more than $3 million to Food Banks Canada since 2003. Their support of our granting initiatives has provided rural food banks with the critical funds needed to better serve their clients.

Kraft Heinz Canada donates almost 2 million pounds of nutritious food to the food bank network annually that is delivered at regular intervals throughout the year, which means that food banks can rely on a consistent contribution of nutritious, specific food items to serve their community members in need.

Syngenta has donated much-needed funds to Food Banks Canada to support rural communities across the country. Since 2000, they have provided annual funding to help improve transportation and technology, resulting in greater access to food in rural communities.
