Établir des normes d’excellence nationales, gérer l’accréditation des banques alimentaires et faire des investissements qui favorisent des services améliorés.
Organismes accrédités
Banques alimentaires Canada travaille en collaboration avec le réseau composé de plus de 5 500 banques alimentaires et organismes communautaires pour assurer l’accès à des aliments sains et nutritifs pour toute personne qui en a besoin au Canada.
Afin d’offrir les plus hauts niveaux de sécurité et de dignité dans les banques alimentaires au-delà de cela, Banques alimentaires Canada a mis en œuvre un nouvel ensemble de normes nationales qui couvrent tous les secteurs d’activité des banques alimentaires dans le but d’assurer l’excellence opérationnelle globale dans l’ensemble du réseau.
Conçu comme un ensemble de normes de base dont le réseau de banques alimentaires assume la responsabilité, le programme des normes d’excellence fournit un cadre permettant aux banques alimentaires de cerner les possibilités d’innovation et d’amélioration du rendement dans les domaines des services à la clientèle et de l’aide, des opérations des banques alimentaires, de la manipulation sécuritaire des aliments et plus encore. Les normes reflètent également le leadership éclairé du réseau de banques alimentaires et son engagement à renforcer constamment ses capacités collectives afin de soulager la faim aujourd’hui et prévenir la faim demain.
Incidence du programme
Succès depuis avril 2024 :
291 banques alimentaires
ont obtenu l’accréditation des normes d’excellence et des dizaines sont en voie de l’obtenir.
916 personnes
ont complété le cours de manipulation sécuritaire des aliments de Banques alimentaires Canada.
Plus de 5,9 M$
ont été accordés aux banques alimentaires pour les aider à respecter les normes d’excellence.

Richmond Food Bank Society, C.-B.
Hajira Hussain, directrice générale de la Richmond Food Bank Society, en Colombie-Britannique, s’est d’abord sentie intimidée par l’idée d’obtenir l’accréditation en vertu des normes d’excellence. Elle pensait qu’elle détesterait le processus, mais elle affirme maintenant ceci : « Ne laissez pas la peur vous mettre des bâtons dans les roues. Cela a transformé notre banque alimentaire pour le mieux. Tous les membres du personnel sont plus heureux. » Pour Mme Hussain, un autre gain inattendu est l’expertise qui fait maintenant d’elle une ressource précieuse aux yeux d’autres dirigeants d’organismes sans but lucratif.
Clarington East Food Bank, ON
Susan Pascoe, directrice générale de la Clarington East Food Bank à Newcastle, en Ontario, a remarqué que le nombre de dons a augmenté, que la prise de décisions est plus facile et que la confiance de la collectivité est plus forte grâce à l’accréditation de son organisme. Tous les organismes accrédités établissent un nouveau point de repère en matière de sécurité, de dignité et d’excellence opérationnelle dans les banques alimentaires.
