How does it work?<\/h2>\n

A gift of securities is a cost-effective way to convert your assets into immediate and meaningful support for Food Banks Canada. By donating your publicly traded securities directly to Food Banks Canada you can avoid tax on the capital gains, and it allows you to donate the full value to help ensure that no one goes hungry today. You will be able to make a larger gift for less and may be able to use the resulting charitable tax credit to offset other income.<\/p>\n

The process is straightforward, and we\u2019ve outlined the steps below to assist you with the transfer process. When the transfer is complete, we will be in touch to provide you with your charitable tax receipt.<\/p>\n

Steps to Making a Gift of Securities<\/h2>\n

Download the Fo<\/span>od Banks Canada<\/span> Gift of Securities form and follow the steps as outlined.<\/span> Completion of all sections and steps is <\/span>needed for the<\/span> accurate<\/span> transfer, tracking and receipting<\/span> of your <\/span>gift.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Download the Gift of Securities\u00a0Form<\/a><\/p>\n\n

    Complete the Donor Information section.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/li>\n

  2. \n 2<\/span>

    Complete the Br<\/span>oker Information section<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/li>\n

  3. \n 3<\/span>

    Complete <\/span>the Securities to be Transferred section.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/li>\n

  4. \n 4<\/span>

    Instruct <\/span>Your Broker to Transfer Securities<\/span>. <\/span>It is important that your broker promptly sends the completed form to RBC Dominion Securities so they may <\/span>initia<\/span>te<\/span> acceptance of the transfer.<\/span> Completed forms should be sent to Christine <\/span>Zwirz<\/span> by email <\/span>at <\/span><\/span>christine.zwirz@rbc.com<\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/li>\n

    Send a pdf copy of the completed <\/span>form, or<\/span> have your broker for<\/span>ward<\/span>,<\/span> to Food Banks Canada by email <\/span>to <\/span><\/span>philanthropy@foodbankscanada.ca<\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/li>\n <\/ol>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

    We will be in touch to acknowledge your donation form and let you know when the transfer is complete. Your charitable tax receipt will be sent to you based on the preference indicated on the Gift of Securities form. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Please be advised that the value of the donation receipt will be based on the closing price of the security on the day securities are received by RBC Dominion Securities, in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
